(Week 9) Is this really the end? Or just the beginning ...

I am so pleeeeaaaasssseeed to finally come to the end of this 'journey'!!!
I can honestly say that I have enjoyed the exploration of Web 2 training, but could have done with a bit more imput from more qualified people.
It was only in the later half of the training that I finally started to get a grasp of what the objective was. However I am really grateful to have been given the opportunity to investigate these sites and although I may not have time or resources to maintain access to this learning experience, it has been of huge value.

Week 9: Ebooks

The title I chose:

Is Huckleberry Finn because it is a classic and therefore familiar.
This site is definitely not an option for me! However for a lot of customers that use our library it will definitely be a favoured option. Those who are looking for a quick browse of books and enjoy e learning will enjoy this site

Week 9: Podcasts

Took a look at one or two of the podcast directories listed and found a podcast that interested me in Podcast.com Looked for some interesting library related podcasts. I added an RSS feed for my chosen podcast "Amazon BookClips" to my Bloglines account

Week 9: YouTube

YouTube is currently the number 1 site, with over 1 million video views a day and allowing users to upload their own video content and embed clips into their own sites easily.

You Tube is amazing and if you have the time you could easily spend hours browsing this site.

Week 8: Online Application Tools

One major benefit to web-based applications is that they eliminate the need to worry about different software versions or file types as you email documents or move from PC to PC. Another bonus is that they easily accommodate collaboration by allowing multiple users to edit the same file (with versioning) and provide users the ability to easily save and convert documents as multiple file types (including HTML and pdf).

Week 7: Social Networking

Facebook:
Millions of people use Facebook everyday to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.

Bebo:
On Bebo you can do all of the following plus more!
explore
Hottest bands, sexiest celebs and fresh new videos.
Show me what's hot
share
Your one-stop-shop for Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Delicious, Twitter, AIM, AOL Mail, Google Mail and Yahoo! Mail updates.
Keep track of friends on other social sites from one place.

I think both of the sites are definitely aimed at 20 somethings and under

Tagging, Folksonomies & Technorati in Del.icio.us

Tagging is an open and informal method of categorizing that allows users to associate keywords with online content.
Technorati tagging, is a social bookmarking manager which allows you to bookmark a web page and add tags to categorize your bookmarks.

Wikis

Another site that the ordinary reader can find and contribute good reading material for other like minded readers. Seems to be a large variety of topics.

Could be used as a rss feed on our next reads site.

Public Libraries could set up a Wiki as Princeton Library has and patrons could publish their own reviews on books they have read from our libraries.
